How To Care For Your Art

More artwork is destroyed in one decade by lack of knowledge about the proper care and conservation of them than any other means. If they are not Handled and cared for properly, the condition and look of your fine art will diminish faster than you think.

Paper has a tendency to be fragile and needs to be handled with care. There are many environmental factors that effect it's longevity such as pollution, light, heat, humidity, smoke, cooking fumes, dust and air circulation just to name a few. Follow these handling and care precautions to help minimize Your artwork from showing signs of deterioration from mishandling.

Sunlight and indoor lighting:
Where you hang your artwork can have a major impact on its longevity.

Never hang your artwork in direct sunlight regardless what glaze or UV protection was added. Exposing artwork to direct sunlight and fluorescent bulb lighting is one of the worst and most frequent mistakes.

Cleaning:
Do not use any chemical cleaners, fluid or sprays to clean your artwork. Dust can be removed gently by using a dust brush. To remove dirt build up or splashes, wipe very gently with soft damp (water) cloth. Then allow to dry. Never rub hard or continuously in the same area. Avoid touching the surface of your artwork as this will transfer oils from your hands causing staining or marking. When transporting your artwork use bubble wrap or a similiar impact resistant protective covering! And pay particular care not to knock the corners or edges.
